Are Refurbed cell phones a risk to buy?

I just bought a Blackberry Curve 8310 (Refurb). I was wondering why is it refurbed? and What does Refurbed mean? Am i taking a BAD risk by buying this phone?

  1. Refurbished means that the phone or product had a factory malfunction or defect, and was repaired by the factory and reconditioned for sell.

    I bought two mp3 players that where refurbished and I haven't had a problem and it's been a year and a half.


  2. Most people think refurb phones are phones that have been damaged but they are actually phones that people ordered and returned for one reason or another.  the company just cleans them out and polishes them.  for the price of a refurb they are not that bad of a risk.  good luck

  3. Refurbished normally means it is new but failed some inspection (it had a dent or a scratch or a component failed which they would replace before selling) It is essentially brand new.
