  1. No road bike frames tend to be a little larger, have different geometry. Mountain bikes are built to take more abuse consequently weigh a bit more. Some people do ride mountain bikes a lot on the road . They are decent for traveling with packs, bags, equipment.


  2. nope, road bikes use a larger wheel (27"), mtb will use 26", different geometry mtb is more relaxed, and normally heavier since it is made for much more abuse and rough terrain

  3. No. Road frames are thinner and overall larger. Mountain frames are thicker and just a tiny bit smaller than road bike frames.
