Ron D:

“[Semi-automatic firearms] are instruments of

destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down

and killing people.” Mitt Romney

(from his own 7/1/2004 news release)

Romney supports:

-The Brady Registration Act (Boston Globe 6/12/1994)

-Mandatory Firearms ID Cards (Boston Globe 2002)

-5-day waiting period (Lowell Sun, 3/30/2002)

-Federal Feinstein Gun Ban (Lowell Sun, 3/30/2002)

-Signed the Mass. Semi-Automatic Ban(7/1/2004)

Kennedy, Dukakis, Kerry -- now Romney

I use semi-autos for skeet, duck hunting, turkey hunting, quail hunting, and it is a must to protect us and our land from wild boar. I am inflexible on this issue.

  1. i hope not

  2. Who cares?  They're just going to change their positions next week.

  3. Gosh I hope not because I"m probably going to end up having to vote for one of them :D

  4. Assumes facts not in evidence.  So, what evidence do you have that Romney is for gun control?

  5. I don't think that gun control has been brought up once in the debates.  Politicians now-a-days know better :)

  6. Romney and McCain both advocate legislation that will help keep guns from getting into the hands of those who would use those guns to terrorize people.

Romney is a member of the NRA, and has never said he is in favor of individuals relinquishing their right to own a gun. McCain was in the U.S. Military, and trained in weaponry.

Neither are in favor of superceding an individual's right to own a gun--a right clearly given to an individual under the Second Amendment. That amendment; however, does not give anyone the right to willfully "gun" someone down while commiting a crime.

My ex husband and I owned several shotguns, rifles, and even a pistol or two; but, we used these guns to hunt or skeet shoot. My husband was a deputy sheriff, and carried a pistol when he was on duty.  We taught our two daughters to hunt for food, not people. They were taught gun safety, how to clean a gun, how to safely store a gun.

I support any legislation that will keep guns out of the hands of "criminals"; but, I don't think there is any law that Congress could pass that would keep criminals from getting a gun.
