Question:

Are Russia really as unstable or a threat to peace as the Western Gov's would have us believe ?

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says Russia does not want an escalation of international tensions, but does want to be respected. He warned that any aggression against Russia's people or interests would be met with a firm response.

"We've always been a peaceful state,” he said. “But if anyone thinks they can get away with killing our citizens, soldiers and officers who are carrying out a peacekeeping mission, we will not allow this. Anyone who tries to do something of the kind will receive a crushing response. We have all the capabilities - economic, political and military."

These comments seem fair enough and judging by the way they brought a swift end to the Georgian conflict, are they really a threat to world peace ?

  1. Russia provides a much more solid and tangible, "Hate Object Focus" than some nebulous Terrorist in a cave in Pakistan/Afghanistan

  2. NO  its American propaganda,     go back in time to when the US surrounded the Soviet Union with Missiles in Turkey and other countries, the Russians retaliated by placing missiles in Cuba, this led to the Cuban Missile crisis . the Russians backed off because they realised it was a no win for all parties. now the US is back to its old tricks by placing dubious items in Poland and pretending to befriend Georgia. why cant The US warmongers just p**s off and stop causing trouble all round the World

  3. I think they are mad because their country has collapsed,so misery loves company, and they are dragging whoever with them.

  4. Russia is no threat, the U.S is the biggest threat to human life

The U.S controlled media want us to believe that Russia are a threat, but in fact Russia is only a threat to U.S domination and interests. So is Iran, Iraq, Cuba etc. Thats why some of these countries were bombed.

  5. interesting doesnt really apply to me though, so cant say.

  6. In truth we are all a threat to world peace.

  7. I think l`d be a tad unstable if anyone threatened to install a missile site on my doorstep!

  8. Unstable?

    Sure.

    Why not?

Having " L " driver at the wheel?

    What do we expect?

    A threat?

    No.

    Don't think so.

Just the " L " driver knocking here and there.

    With the dents.

    What do you think?

  9. US = real threat.

  10. I believe all major powers are a threat to word peace, it will only take one of them to destroy us all.

  11. Russia sees the US defence shield as a threat to there security so they are defending themselves

  12. Of course not. Russia have been a great civilisation and Empire for centuries - under the Tsars and the communists. There is a civilisational maturity that such old countries acquire (India, China, Egypt, Iraq) which finally lands them on their feet, while upstarts like the USA end up with egg on their face.

And with that joker Bush in the US against the suave and savvy Putin in Russia, where's the comparison? So there may be short-lived disturbances, like Georgia, but the Old World still behaves with global responsibility and decorum. Worry not.

  13. All polticians are a threat to peace and the welfare of humanity; the smaller third world countries in Africa spend all their resources on weapons to fight tribal and civil wars; the big guns - Britain,France,Israel,U.S.Russia spend billions on nuclear weapons or invading oil rich countries. Meanwhile the inhabitants of countries big and small die of starvation at worst or struggle to make a living, put up with filthy incompetent schools and hospitals, or in other ways just struggle through life.

  14. No, the Russians were not aggressors in Georgia, but Americans watch

corporate controlled news which they believe is a " free press".  That it is controlled by a few big corporations is considered "free" but if it were to be controlled by a government censorship department that would be considered "media controlled".  It is part of the dream world that many Americans live in these days with the slick double talk that passes as truth.  It's a rich country where control can be maintained as an iron fist in a velvet glove.
