  2. If they will grow in your climate, they should be very available.  They are sold under the name Magnolia x soulangiana.

    which means they are producting these guys by the hundreds or thousands if they are willing to send them thru the mail.  

    Growing conditions are you need a deep soil, no rocks please,  Acid soil is preferred but I see them growing "kinda" well in our alkaline soils, and suitable for all but the very coldest or warmest regions of the US.  Pretty trees if the tree is happy.  Ugly when stressed as the leaves are large.  Large stressed leaves really make an tree ugly.
