Question:

Are Second hand planes risky?

I have read that poor countries usually buy second hand or discarded planes from wealthy countries, do a bit of patching up and servicing and then use them as national airliners of their countries

Dont you think his means risking the lives of 250 people each time the plane takes off?

  1. No, they are not.  I can't think of one country that does not have inspection standards for aircraft, whether new or acquired in a used condition.  Many US carriers will perform an advanced inspection of an airplane before turning it over to a buyer, of course the cost is factored into the purchase price.

  2. In theory it seems scary, but in reality it probably about as safe as flying in a plane in a rich country

  3. Oh, trust me it is safe. It has to meet certain inspections before it is allowed to fly.

  4. yes, but also their country would have to inspect the plane before it is allowed to take off!

  5. Its safer than driving
