Are Swedish goggles a good choice for a competitive swimmer?

I swim competitively for my summer pool. I'm looking for some new goggles, as my current ones developed a leak. It is important that the goggles I get are relatively cheap (not over $15 or $20) and fit comfortably. I have seen a lot of swimmers use these goggles, and I am wondering what it is about them that is so special (if anything). If you have used them, or know somebody who swears by them, please answer. Thanks.

They're great! It takes some time to get used to. They are uncomfortable at first but once you get used to them, you love them.

I know several people who like the Swedish goggles, but I have found that there are more comfortable pairs out there for $10 or so. I know several people who like them, but I also know others who hate them. I personally use the Speedo Vanquishers (I buy mine from www.swimoutlet.com and get them for $10.50/pair) because the silicone seal is very comfortable and keeps the water out very well. I would suggest trying on some pairs of goggles at your local swim shop to see which ones suction well to your face (without the strap), this will show that you get a good seal to help keep out the water.

A Swedish swimsuit model is a good choice for a competitive swimmer. Stop worrying about your leaky goggles.

I love them.  Goggle with padding and seals always leak for me but swedes never do.  However, they fit differently and you may not find them comfortable.  Its good if you can try a pair on before you buy them so you can kind of get an idea of how they feel.

i know someone who has a pair and loves them and they fit really well and look good also and she said they are the best ones she has right know.she uses them for swim  meets.
