it costs me about a tenner to go 2.5 miles, £3.50 before you even get in the bloomin thing, I once had to pay £2.00 for moving 3 feet, (traffic jam), Lying operators that say its on its way still when you ring up for the 3rd time.I sometimes have cabbies that try and de;iberately go the wrong way,Whats your views/experiences?

  1. my father belongs to a taxi company in s wales and fair enogh he has never charged the meter price or his drivers but there is no profit at all in it. he is selling the company soon like. it cost so much insurace is £200 a month the taxi badge is £400 a years the taxi mot is £120 a year and that is before the 100,000 miles wear and tear each year (and only 25,000 miles is with a passinger) and fuel on top of that its profit less

  2. I partly agree with you, but have in mind that petrol has gone up alot... and these guys work for a profit.

  3. taxi's have always been a rip off and alter accordingly as to how drunk you are

  4. I use the same cab firm every time. I know them, they know me. We both know how much the fare should be and they always get a generous tip.

  5. no they not as long as you get the right ones for 2.5miles it only cost me 4.00 in a taxi

  6. No they haven't, they have always been a rip off.

  7. i dont think i have ever been ripped off by a taxi my mum has though!

But it costs me about 3.00 to go 2 miles lol and6.00 to go 4 miles lol usually the meters here start at 2.20 :)

The taxis have always been on time for me :) We took a minibus hired from taxi company the taxi driver drove us obviously and it was about 11 miles out and it only cost 20 quid :) between all 6 of us :)

I have noticed sometimes they go a different way but it usually works out the same :)

Except this one time a cabbi didnt start his meter bloody genius and then he just randomly charged me 8.00 when it should have been about 5.

But yeah i have my fav cabbi companies, no black cabs they are over priced and they cost more if you just go to a txi rank and wait for one then calling one out :)

  8. Taxis have always been a rip off.  Some of them charge £25 to do a 9 mile route, I can do the same journey on the bus for £2.15.

  9. no

taxi drivers have to put with punters all day

ppl that puke or run off

    and please tip them

  10. Are taxi's a rip off? It is a matter of perception. How bad do you need a ride? I would not object to a taxi if that was my only means of making my appointments and I had the funds. Otherwise, I prefer my own vehicle. I guess I don't call anything a rip off, if it serves man. I hope that answers your question.

  11. Taxis are very expensive in London where I live; the 5 mile journey from my home to Paddington Station costs between

£16 and £23 depending on the volume of traffic and which surcharge (i.e, late evening or Sunday) is in place; most taxi drivers are polite and attempt to take the fastest route but about 10% of them are real rogues taking the most congested route or even refusing to make the journey at all; bearing in mind the high fares this greatly annoys me.

  12. Taxis are a luxury. Use them only when you need to.

  13. petrol prices are the real rip off cheaper petrol = cheaper taxis

  14. Yes they cost a fortune these days. Not that I use them very much

  15. It's cheaper if you pre- book with a private hire company, than use a hackney carriage with a meter, private hire can give you a quote for your journey, and you don't get charged for sitting in traffic. And we're very nice people too!!! If you think the driver deliberately goes the wrong way, you can report them to their licensing officer.
