Question:

Are Tennessee walking horses okay with a hilly, dry southern california climate?

I am looking for a good trail horse and I love TW...I love to do arena ground work but would like a sturdy horse for the mountains here. I have had an Arab in the past and I know they are great for long trails etc but I was wondering if anyone can give me any info on how TW's are. Thanks!!

  1. TWs can handle anything i swear!!!


  2. Decades ago I had a friend who had a wonderful TWH in the LA county area.  She took him all over on trail rides and showed him too.  My former boss's BF currently has a TWH because he has a bad back and they haul him all over with her horse on vacations and such.

    So, YES, TWHs do GREAT in So. Cal.

  3. They are very versitile horses and are extremely calm, well mannered and sure footed. You'll be fine, and you'll definately enjoy your ride! They are wonderful horses.

  4. You will LOVE the gaits of a TW.  They are smooth and sure footed and will give you the ride of your life.  They are smart and good natured as well.

    They are found on all states.
