Are Tesco ripping me off..?

Every time I go there, they've put their prices up again.. Of course they always have offers on junk food and fruit that looks about fit for a pig, but never the essential things I buy.

Lately (last few months) when doing the food shop,i've noticed that Asda have increased their prices a lot too - I actually find Tesco's cheaper than them at the moment. I agree though,we want to see cheaper prices on staple foods. They tell us to feed ourselves and our children fewer of the treats and processed foods but when we go to the supermarket,all the offers are on those items and hardly any on healthy foods,it's just ridiculous!.

I work for one of the major supermarkets, not Tesco, and I too have noticed the prices of everything going up. But I am sick of people coming in having a go at me for it, like I am personally responsible!! I have to pay the higher prices as well, the same as everyone. To everyone out there, don't have a go at us, we work for c**p wages, and have to pay the same as you lot, who have nothing better to do all day than have a go at us!!!!!! I have noticed that most supermarkets at the moment have offers and deals on fresh produce, as they are trying to force us to eat more healthily.

I find their prices go up too.

They're extortionate.

Their fruit is disgustingly bruised and turning off. Their meat is poor. They overly price everything.

Might I suggest, if you're not a retail snob, to go to Lidl.

Yes apparently only "poor" people go shopping there for food. But I'll tell you one thing their food tastes great and you can get half the stuff you buy from tesco's at under half the price.

Oh, and there is none of this "credit crunch" bollocks.

Retail is doing very well right now. People are continuing to buy food, clothing and petrol.

Tesco rips everyone off.your not alone.They put 16p on a 6pt caton milk overnight, saying it was fuel increases, but Wisemans who deliver their milk didnt up the price till 5 weeks later.Trouble is, all supermarkets are at it, so we cant win.

Not ripping you off. Some products are just going up because of oil prices. It’s unfortunate that unhealthy sugar and fat foods are so cheap – because this makes poor kids fatter.

This might be one area where the govt needs to act. Such as a tax on unhealthy food to subsidise healthy food. But who will decide what is healthy?

i did tesco shop on line it wasn't bad i got better stuff than they put on the shelves especially fresh food but as you say it get's more expensive each time you shop so i turned to asda and my bill nearly halved although you pay for you delivery you don't buy all the junk food you tend to put in your basket when you actually go to the shop so you save again and lose weight by not buying as much junk
