They're for the most part peaceable, kind, they honor there parents and there commitments. So why all the animosity? Why do people continue to point to drugs and corruption and prostitution in Thailand. There is more corruption in the US than Thaialnd.

  1. yes, i agree, because even though i'm a 100% convinced that the Christianity is the best religion, but the Buddhism is very similar and the Buddhists are more close 2 their religion and they apply it more on their life. And i would agree with Gandhi when he said, "give me your Christ and leave your Christianity with you".

  2. With all due respect, Bhuddists are not Christians because they do not have Christ in their life. Being peaceful does not make you a Christian-having faith in God and believing Christ dies for us so that we would not perish in h**l is what makes us Christians. There is only one way to heaven, and that's through Jesus. Having said that, if we Christians would have been doing what we are supposed to do, this country would be in much better moral shape.

  3. I don't think there's animosity towards Thailand or Thais.  Thailand is known as LoS (Land of Smiles).  Unfortunatley s*x tourism doesn't help.

I'd like to correct you, there's more corruption in Thailand than the US.

Nevertheless it's a wonderful country, friendly people and great food.

  4. I agree.

  5. i agree too

  6. I'm a Christian and I'm not exactly sure how the after-life (heaven, or the new world or whatever) is going to play out, but I think Christians will be surprised to see how many non-Christians show up and how many (so called) Christians don't make it.

By the way, I agree with your corruption argument. At least you know what you're getting with Thai corruption.

  7. you are 'all over the shop' so to speak with your question.

It is really difficult to campare the two, and even more difficult to define corruption, and d**n near impossible to compare them congruently,

First, what constitutes corruption? It seems simple enough, but would you consider National Parks charging foreigners 20X the price that a local would pay to get into the park corrupt?

Thailand has had its share of rigged elections and profiteering, I imagine what Shinawatra did to Thailand is not far from what bush did to the US.

What any of this has to do with religion, I am not sure.  But I will say, drugs are not the problem they used to be, political corruption affects every country, just the way business is done might be a bit different.

But to answer the question, neither christians nor buddhists do much to advance the teachings of christ, so they both make for bad christians.  Comparing corruption in the two countries is difficult.  Thailand is not nearly as advanced as the US, so their corruption is not nearly as sophisticated.  That said, I think it has no less an adverse impact on the Thai citizens than corruption in the US has on US citizens.  Make sense?

  8. Can't generalise.

  9. I agree more!!!!
