Question:

Are The Beijing Olympics Gymnastics Judges Unfair?

Cheng Fei collapses on her second vault and gets a bronze

Alicia Sacramone does not even medal

Nastia's score was the same as He Kexin's

and they had to go to some bogus tie breaker...

What is with these new rules?

Why can't they just give two golds.

Also... the judges come from countries that are not that experienced in judging gymnastics...

i mean there are no judges from romania, russia, china, and the u.s. which are the prime gymnastics countries

  1. How can you say china is doing better this year. yea by the way the judges are scoring it they are making china look better than they actually are. I mean come on they cant even land their routines. In football a team doesnt win by dropping the ball in the end zone do they. so how can you win when your on your knees.

  2. I love the new rules, with the exception of the tiebreaker rule.

The difficulty added in helps make it more fair, because before a perfect 10 routine that was easy would get the same score as an extremely difficult routine.

But, Nastia's routine was 100 times better than He Kexin's, and they got the same score. Very unfair.

  3. The unfortunate thing about the judging is that future athletes may be discouraged going to an olympics.  I hope that would not be the case.  These athletes work so hard for a bunch of judges who don't know their butt from a hole in the ground.  I am so sick of watching events with judges.  Something has got to give.  I wouldn't be surprised if China paid the judges off.

  4. well, they may be inexperienced but i don't think that their biased.

just because china does a good job this year doesn't mean that the judges aren't fair.

since judges from the countries competing how are the judges going to be biased? you expect a judge from brazil to favour a chinese gymnast?

    however....reputation points count.

if you're watching the olympics from NBC the hosts always speak biased because their American. If the exact same thing happened, except the AMERICANS won the golds over the chinese instead, I don't see them complaining.

  5. Unfair and bogus!

  6. I and most of the world feel the same way.  My friends from France, Russia, Bulgaria, England, and Ukraine all feel the same way.  Corruption.

  7. Other than the new rules, I do think that there are many problems with judges. Alicia Sacramone did so much better. Cheng Fei literally is on her knees when she collapses, which ruins her landing score.

And yes, the tie breaker is very unfair and unreasonable. Gold and bronze were given to two chinese girls, while Nastia was given silver. It was obvious the the bronze medalist did so much better than the gold medalist, He Kaxin. I do come to believe that the bronze was given to that girl because they felt bad pushing Nastia to bronze. I do believe that He Kexin should have recieved a silver or bronze prior to some of the many mistakes she made. Nastia's performance was outstanding. And the last gymnast who went was also very good.
