In America a person with a good attitude and determination can rise above any situation.

In many societies (Middle East) you are born in to your station in life, no matter how hard you work you are stuck.

The opportunity is here if taken, it is so easy to sit around and complain and be a victim, it is much harder to take personal responsibility and change things.

Yes, I think that American society has suffered a little for some time but there's always hope. Eventually, we might have the opportunity to correct the increasing poverty in this country but we're going to need everyone's cooperation if we are going to move anywhere. Let us remind ourselves that we are still fortunate. It can be way worse than what it is and we all know that. It's time that we stop complaining and did something about it.

In our society we are blessed with the ability for upward social mobility.  In other places of the world if you're poor then you'll stay poor but that's not to say we don't have social inequality over here.

There are times when poor people actually have to spend more than when the rich have to spend less.  Like when buying houses people of lower social class often have to take riskier deals that end up with them spending more money on interest than a person of higher social class would spend all together.

The system in a way was built from the ground up to cater toward the "economically viable".  If you're not "economically viable" then you're S.O.L.
