  1. No, not a lot.  Howver San Diego is not exempt from the blight that plagues many cities across our nation but does a better job of decentralizing poverty.  There is a lot of gov't subsidized housing available to low-income families that helps spread out the "mentality" that centralized poverty creates and gives people a meaningful shot, and hopefully, a willingness to achieve beyond their current circumstances.  I think it works pretty well.
