Question:

Are There Any Females Out There Who Like To Bowl?

I guess i was raised in a "bowling family" where both my parents and grandparents were active bowlers. The ratio at least that I have seen is that males greatly outnumber female "good bowlers".

is it just that bowling is stereotypically a guy's sport? Do girls find it physically hard to bowl; going back and forth throwing the ball with one arm?

  1. My friend Rooster's girlfriend likes to bowl every Tuesday at 9 a.m.

  2. I do but I stopped because I have tendinitis.

  3. I also come from a 'bowling' family ;-) my parents were in leagues, I was on adult/child leagues and now at 28 years old, I have not stopped. I bowl in two / three leagues per week and my 3 year old son bowls in one now too. I average a 165 at the moment.  The ratio is men do bowl and average higher than women but that's because they normally throw with more hook and a heavier ball.  I don't find it physically hard but I do hurl that ball down that lane <3

  4. In my high school, everyone loved to bowl, and some of us girls were pretty d**n good. Considering that men generally have more upper body strength than women, I can see where you're coming from. But there are plenty of exceptions.

  5. Sorry but I don't consider bowling a "physically hard sport"... going back and forth, throwing the ball with one arm and knocking down pins is the fun part, what is so hard about that.. seriously?

  6. Melissa, my mom used to bowl every week on a women's league before her health stopped her (she is in her 70's so I don't think it was just the physical demands of bowling).  When we were little she used to pack all us kids up and take us to the bowling alley.

I am not a regular bowler, but I do enjoy it when we go.  They still have those bowling leagues for women and couples as well.  I do notice there are a lot less bowling alley's than in the past.
