Question:

Are There Bad Sides To Removing A Dogs Testacles?

by  |  earlier

I'm wondering of removing my dog's testacles because he likes to mount other dogs and sometimes other boy dogs. Ahahaha. I don't know if it's a sign of dominance or if he's just sexually active.

Thanks.

  1. My vet told me that the real reason he wants me to get my dog neutered is not because he will get females pregnant, BUT for his own good, because very often male dogs who don't get neutered end up with protate problems/cancer...and it's horrendous. He says it must be done by three years of age.

  2. No.  Read this and you will see there are only benefits starting with controlling the over populations of unloved and unwanted animals out there that are being put down.

  3. Sure, if you are the dog. :-)

  4. chances are he's active, and as long as one of them has been "fixed" then it's no problem otherwise, you may be a parent to puppies.

  5. I don't know, ask yourself how you'd like to live the rest of your life nutless. ASK YOURSELF why you are considering neutering your dog. if he is healthy and there are no other problems related to testosterone..there is no reason the do this. on the other hand if your dog is constantly running away or has health issues that can be addressed by neutering then go for it. PS before you denut ur dog (if he is running away) try getting him laid a few time and take him for walk and runs more then you have he may just have more energy then you think. so many people think a 5 to 10 minute walk is enough....Its not! not even Close.

    Good luck

  6. He might get a little chunky.

  7. There are no sexual side effects! And, luckily, the mounting will most likely stop when they are removed!

  8. I can't think of any cons to having your dog neutered.  The humping may continue even after you have him fixed as it is, as you said, a sign of dominance.  Getting your dog neutered is the responsible thing to do.

  9. there are NO bad sides

but I was recently informed that dogs don't WANT to be dominant. its instinct, if your dog doesn't respect you as a leader-his instinct is to dominate you...

so he doesn't WANT to. they dont care either way. just as long as there is structure in your 'pack'

  10. Dogs hump because they want to dominate, people, dogs, cats, stuffed animals. If your dog is older than six months and you neuter him, he will still hump and mark his spot. Neutering calms them down a bit, they won't have puppies, and they won't get cancer in their testicles. There are no bad effects when it comes to neutering your dog, it just benefits them :) You should train him not to hump though, that can cause a problem. If he humps a dog, the other dog could attack him, and I'm sure you wouldn't want that.
