Are Toasters a Good Buy?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

I have to have a toaster, here in the states. I have limited counter space and my microwave is there. I just bought a new one actually, for $11.29 (don't know how much that is in "L", we don't have that character on our keyboards either). For the highest setting that is a good question. The only reasonable answer I can come up with is to toast something frozen, like a waffle or a frozen pancake. I've seen people who like black toast too. Ah, not for me. When I worked in a restaurant years ago people would insist on it and complain when we could only get it so dark. I thought it was comical.

You know that "L" figure I may be able to find that in Win XP somewhere, using an on-screen keyboard. You can laugh. A lot of Americans are dumb. They don't know anything about other currencies or exchange rates. I know what a Euro is and a Franc, but I've a lot to learn yet.

LOL I know what you mean,  It seems silly to have that option on a toaster.

I prefer toaster ovens.  They are more versatile and still makes good toast :)

Toasters are a big waste of money buy an all in one conventional toaster oven far more features and worth the money

because if you are doing crumpets or waffles or anything other than bread you may need it hotter

Yes, a great buy. Actually a toaster oven is even better. Not only can you toast your breds and pizzas, but if you heat up food in there, it keeps fried left overs crispy unlike a microwave, and yet just as time efficient. It's better than an over for re heating and for keeping the kitchen less hott in the summer. I say yeay for thee toaster...oven that is!

Well you see my dear it is for a hangover remedy you burn the toast then scrap the burnt part off into a glass of luke warm water and drink it down.

Good question! I think toasters are a waste of money. I have a toaster oven that I can put things that are bigger than toast into. I can heat up muffins in it and all sort of other things. mmmm muffins...lol
