  1. I am a former chef and worked in several high end places in Toronto, The Windsor Arms Hotel (1979-80), The Westbury Hotel (1980's) and Barberians Steakhouse (1990's).

Alot has to do with the place itself, some better establishments the service is superior, and others if they look down on you and it happens then your left hanging in the breeze to coin a phrase.

Fine Dining now is a rarity in Toronto, When I started as an apprentice in the late 1970's, every hotel had a fine dining room, when I first came to the city, some places still did formal french service, silver trays, white gloves and enough silverware and dishes to sink a ship on the table.

Fine Dining now is more fusion and eclectic forms of cuisine even the ethnic ones, I would not say the rude or nasty, alot has to do on how well there trained and the philosophy of the business, how the judge and approach customers and what they expect in return.
