Are Typhoons most likely to hit Tokyo, Beijing, or Hong Kong on a given summer week (late July/Aug)?

Didn't Tokyo have a Typhoon a few weeks ago, which caused an earthquake or something? How often does this happen and how common are after-shocks?

Also, how about Hong Kong? How often does this happen here, if at all?

  1. Hong Kong is most prone to typhoons. When there's a severe gale, schools and businesses are closed, but tourists are also advised to stay in their hotel. People get killed.

Tokyo gets its share of typhoons, but it's mostly about getting lots of rain than wind damages.

Beijing is quite inland, if you look at a map. Typhoons tend to weaken down to tropical storms by the time they reach Beijing.

Storms weaken when they travel over land. They can get stronger when they travel over water. Hong Kong is completely exposed to the ocean. That's why it can get severe storms. A typhoon can hit Tokyo directly from the Pacific, but many other times, it would travel over land over the rest of western Japan before hitting Tokyo. Thus, it would be less of a storm and more of a rain bringer.

Typhoons do no cause earthquakes. However, any kind of rain after an earthquake is bad news, as chances for floods and mudslides increase exponentially. Almost all earthquakes are followed by aftershocks.

Typhoons are the primary form of natural disaster that strikes Hong Kong. Most Hong Kongers will never know what it's like to live through an earthquake, but they know what it's like to survive a bad storm.

  2. Dangerous typhoons are sometimes hit early September in Tokyo.

I think nothing to do with between earthquake and typhoon at all.

At most 3 times in Tokyo and almost no casualties.

Hong Kong is almost safety too.

Beijing is most dangerous of all.

  3. There is not connection between earthquakes and thyphoons. Japan has alot of earthquakes. Typhoons are also comon.
