UK civil liberties group are now complaining about people being investigated for what they call trivial offences such as putting the wrong kind of rubbish in their dustbins, lying about where they live to get their kids into a chosen school and not picking up dog mess. As usual they are harping on about the sensitivities and sensibilities of those being investigated. As usual they seem to care little about challenging bad or anti-social behaviour. Yes, some matters are so trivial that they are not worth the cost of investigation. I agree with this latter approach to trivial matter because I don't think that tax payers money should be wasted. Are these people mad?

  1. I was a student in the UK from 97 to 01 and I have the nicest of memories from that country being so liberal about people, their individuality and their respect for visitors and foreign students like myself. I visited again as a tourist a few years ago and I was shocked by what I’ve seen. Xenophobia was present everywhere, cameras and police in every corner.By the way I’m an EU citizen (old Europe, not eastern Europe). I understand that UK is going through rough times, being in war and having suffered by terrorism, but for the love of God, you people created footfall, rock and punk music, please do not let a harsh time in history alternate your caracter as a liberal nation! George Orwell’s 1984 is fiction, let us not make it reallity!

  2. No, they aren't mad. They aren't supporting those who lie about where they live but rather they are against the surveillance operations councils sometimes use to prove residency. I don't want a camera in my bin either.

As long as the Liberty groups acknowledge that the reason we have social problems is family breakdown I support them.

I only get annoyed when liberals want to promote the causes of social breakdown and at the same time thwart strong measures to deal with the aftermath.

Liberals can't have their cake and eat it. If they want a permissive society then they must accept that the State will need to be oppressive to maintain order - the two go hand in hand.

If we want a smaller less oppressive state then we need to adopt conservative social values too.

  3. That Indian woman with the chip on her shoulder who runs Liberty  seems very angry about anything British. What is the difference between a policeman in the flesh arresting someone for an offence and the same  offence being recorded on a much cheaper camera?

A camera saves millions of £ in policing costs and I have no need to fear them. Try asking factory owners who store millions of £ worth of goods to remove the CCTV  and see the response you get. Anti social behaviour caused in many cases by mass immigration is causing  an epidemic of gun and knife crime and I for one prefer to have a recording of it on camera

No camera is yet invented which will only take the murders and not the dog mess

Edit Morigain, The change in the UK is due to an extraordinary level of mass immigration from countries known to be massively corrupt (see the map below and don't blame the real British)

  4. I wonder if Liberty would change their opinions on crime if they moved their offices to one of the housing estates here in the north east and started earning a typical regional wage instead of their inflated lawyers' salaries.

Minor crime makes the lives of people round here an absolute misery. If they want to complain about the measures being taken, they should at least have the guts to put up alternative policies.

  5. Is this a question or a political statement?

It is worrying in this country that we are being constantly fined, banned or worse if we smoke, park, drink, play football etc in the wrong place. Instead of fining and investigating they should spend a little more time encouraging people to behave the way we want them to do for the right reasons.

I don't agree with you that civil liberties groups are wrong for trying to point that out to us.

  6. Calm Down - It's Only a Commercial !

  7. Lead by example, these so called civil liberties groups are mostly run by minority composed groups of frustrated time on their hands pra-s,  that couldn't organise a chimps tea party,

the have little if any experience of life in the real world,

but they have learnt all the dodges and expenses fiddles so taking advantage and statements like this come natural to them and in their minds justify them being paid above average wages for doing a job not needed,

If it wasn't for the fact of so called violation on this site my wording may have not been so tame.
