Do they last? Are there any things I should look for to tell if an engine is good or bad? I am looking to buy a vespa scooter, so would like to know so I don't buy a bad one.

What are the price ranges for a Vespa 50c scooter?

The one I found is $899

Thanks in advance.

  1. Vespa is the original scooter in production since the late 1940's in Italy, later in India and elsewhere, with hundreds of imitations (some good).

It has proved rugged enough and simple to repair in demanding conditions, provided you feed it the right gas-oil mixture, as in all 2-stroke engines.

Don't expect much in terms of handling or fuel economy - small wheels and 2-stroke engines have their limitations, but recent models have improved suspensions and brakes; traditional 2-stroke engines are being phased out in most countries as heavy polluters.

Unfortunately, can't answer the remaining questions - the answers depend greatly on the local market conditions.
