  1. they are good vehicles ,real good on gas not to bad to repair and very reliable to own, repair cost isn't much more than a toyota or a nissan, but you don't have to repair those that often,if you can find a good used one that's been taken care of it will make you a good car to own, good luck.

  2. they are very good

but the repair costs are high and some are hard to do Even by the dealership

but in general, they are one of the best German cars (after Merc, BMW and Audi )

  3. vw is a problem producing piece of c**p i have owned 3  and got rid of them as fast as possible its just to bad they cant produce a trouble free car sometimes even the dealership is unable to repair their product because the electronics some times are junk like coil problems after replacing  6 of them and they still blow up .auto trans is a total no no for a vw allot of them blow up under 10,000klm, windows fall down by them self's,engines blow up because of timing sensors and worn out crankshaft keys  on the pulleys the reason i try ed vw in 1967,1980and 1999, was because i like the looks of the cars but never again they just don't make good cars i replaced so many things on those cars  if i would have been driving the biggest gas guzzler i would have saved money maybe i go 5 miles to the gallon if i included the parts cost .buy from japan and save your time and money most German cars have problem sooner then they should

  4. Reliable, VERY if you keep them maintaned an don't try and race it

Gas mileage, good on all models except vr6 ( i have) the highway mileage and power are great but in the city its a c**p shoot, i get about19-21mpg in the city, good for a 6 cylinder but a 1.8t engine will give you the same power get up without the gas cost.

    FUN 10/10

I have had my 1998 jetta for two years now (second owner) and its at 108,156 and it pulls really hard. Do not take it to the dealer ship unless its a serious problem. Anything like window regulators or spark plugs/wires take to a private shop....pref a german auto shop VS a asian shop, i have better luck with shops that do work on BMW, audi etc.

  5. yes i have a vw and havent really had any bad reliability issues. just normal wear and tear. depends on if it's used or new. if you buy used make sure you get a car fax on the vehicle. gas mileage is fairly good. on my passat i get around 28-30 mpg. never get repairs done at a dealer ship. if you cant do the repairs yourself i would take it to a private party certified german import serive shop. they are usually reasonable price, and they won't do all the bullshit that the dealerships will put you through.

  6. We in the automotive trade have a saying

VW Virtually Worthless.  We would change that if they lasted more than a 100K without tons of work needed the last 10K.  For years now the rule is at around 90k they start falling apart.  Great cheap cars for a while then they fall on their face..

  7. I will never own anything else... maybe an Audi.

    Good gas mileage

Parts are pricey unless you have a hook-up

    very reliable

Don't get screwed by taking your car to the vw dealership to get it fixed, find a mechanic/ garage who sells vw's or knows alot about them
