Are Wal-Mart LCD TV any less quality?

Than say from Sears, Best Buy or Circuit City?

  1. He is wrong.  Yes, most of the tv's Wal-Mart sells are of cheaper quality and are manufacture specifically for Wal-Mart.  They do have a very few sets that you can find at Sears, etc but only 1 or 2.


  2. If the same Sony, Samsung television is sold by both then no.

    But BestBuy, Wal-Mart tend to look for lower priced versions and include Colby, Phillips, Insignia, Secptre, Dynex, Vizeo etc. which are third-tier brands.

    These are not as well designed, built or quality controlled as the ones from Sony, Samsung or Pioneer.

    Surprisingly - brand names like "Goldstar" and "Samsung" and "Sharp" that used to be Wal-Mart quality can grow into fairly respectable brands. But it takes engineering and manufacturing effort over several years.  Dynex, Insignia, Royo, Colby, etc., are not there yet.
