Are We Entering A Second Cold War?

My question is 2 part:

#1- Do you believe the US & Russia are nearing a second cold war?

#2- If so, what can we expect to see?

1- No.  This was a power play from Russia, to attempt to reassert her dominance in the "near abroad".  When one actually analyzes it, they failed: both Poland and Czech Republic who were wavering on the missile plan now favor it.  It will also move NATO to fast-tracking Ukrainian membership; checkmating Russian intimidation.  Western European countries will look for other sources of fuel-seeing the Russians as unreliable suppliers.

Finally, it is also provoking neutrals like Finland and Sweden to re-assess their defense needs-guarantee you'll budget increases for both countries' militaries this fiscal year.

It will only become a Cold War if the West allows it.  Keep in mind there is no Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, there are no nukes pointed at the US, and trade/political interaction is LIGHT-YEARS beyond where it was in the Cold War.

1) No I don't believe the US/NATO and Russia are nearing a second one. However, if Putin continues with his ex-KGB mindset, God knows what will happen.

2) If it were so, you can expect US/NATO against the SCO countries (Russia, China, Iran, etc). Look it up on Wikipedia if you must.

1. Yes.

2. Russia has indicated that they may send missiles to Cuba already, and a 100% chance of attacking Poland if they get the missile sites.  If they attack anywhere, it will be in Europe, more specifically the factions that broke away from the USSR.  But before that will happen, China will attack Taiwan (you don't drudge for submarine access if you don't intend to use it - and its well documented China wants Taiwan back), Iran/Isreal will attack one another.  In short, this could get real ugly real quick.
