Are West Harlem, Hamilton Heights and Inwood safe/nice places to live in manhattan?

Are they within easy reach of the city etc. Just tell me what you honestly think!!!

Most definitely not,they look enticing because they're cheap but that's because it a cruddy area,there are bumbs all over and I know cause I stayed there for a little while and its awful and one more thing the only train that goes to that area is the 3 and that train is always crowded'just please don't do it. Hth
