Question:

Are You A Moral American? A True American? Care To Test Yourself?

If you don’t like someone running for office do you outright lie, distort the truth or state opinion as if it were fact? Do you lie knowing fully well that what you’re say has no foundation as fact?

Or do you state opinion as opinion, provide provable facts and show respectful reason why you don’t think the person is qualified?

Do you savagely attack someone else’s choices because they don’t happen to be your’s and you think only your way is the right way?

Or do you respect that fact that our great nation was built upon the right to choice our religions, personal and political beliefs?

Does truth, honestly and fair play mean nothing to you as long as your choice wins?

Or does honestly and fair play mean that your personal morals are more important?

How moral are you really? Be honest if you can.

  1. If you don’t like someone running for office do you outright lie, distort the truth or state opinion as if it were fact? Do you lie knowing fully well that what you’re say has no foundation as fact?  Nope

Or do you state opinion as opinion, provide provable facts and show respectful reason why you don’t think the person is qualified? Yep

Do you savagely attack someone else’s choices because they don’t happen to be your’s and you think only your way is the right way? Nope

Or do you respect that fact that our great nation was built upon the right to choice our religions, personal and political beliefs? Yep

Does truth, honestly and fair play mean nothing to you as long as your choice wins? Nope

Or does honestly and fair play mean that your personal morals are more important? My morals are always more important.  That has nothing to do with not being honest or playing fair.

How moral are you really? Be honest if you can.  Pretty darn moral.

  2. None of the politicians are true moral Americans then...imagine that!

  3. I try to respect truth, but if someone out right lies about my choice I won't hesitate to go for the jugular.  If the opposite side wants to play fair I'm game, but if they go dirty be warned the dogs are off the chain.

  4. Depends on if i feel like being sarcastic or not.  Usually ill state an opinion, and try to find facts that back up why i believe that.  If somebody is holding a point of view i disagree with then ill tell them why i disagree (unless what they're asking is dumb...which doesn't help because determining what is dumb is subjective. What maybe dumb to one person may not be dumb to another.)  Overall i have tolerance to other people's beliefs unless i get the feeling that they're trying to force it onto other people to accept.

  5. The test of being an American is citizenship, and there is not such thing as a true American or for that matter a fake  one unless you have forged papers.

  6. 1) It has some basis in fact at least

    2) I usually cite my references.

    3) My way ain't the right way, even I know that much.

    4) 100%

5 and 6) That really depends on how important the choice is to me, or whats at stake,  to tell you the honest truth.

    7) I've done my share of things the Devil can take me for, I've done things other people have called me a good man for.  Whether or not I've met Someone Above my Pay Grade's definition of being moral ain't up for you and me to decide, that's His job, and I hate when people try to take it away from Him.

  7. I am moral enough to fear for the future of this country.

  8. I consider myself to be moral.  On YA, I don't attack anyone personally for their beliefs.  I may express my opinion about their candidate, but I don't generalize by saying all conservatives or all liberals.  I really try to research any information before accusing the candidate of something.  The facts sometimes speak for themselves even though they may cause a firestorm response.

I have given 'best answer' to people whom I totally disagree with because they answered my question in a logical and sensible manner.  I stand by my convictions, but don't feel others should be denied the right to stand by theirs.

There's an old saying that I try to live by:  I may disagree with what you say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it.

  9. 1. Not that I know of.

    2. I generally say something along the lines of "I don't like X's plan." It's generally the ideas I dislike, not the candidate. (I think McCain is pretty honorable for a politician, but I disagree with his politics.) Although there are sometimes someone just rubs me the wrong way, and I will say that. (Hillary, for example.)

    3. Like most people, I think my way is the only right way, but I'm usually polite when I disagree. I think you're wrong, but I respect your right to be wrong.

    4. Yes. I strongly dislike Bush, but when a woman I was working with was criticized for planning to vote for him in 2004, I was the first to stand up for her.

    5. I don't think truth, honesty, and fair play have a place in politics (from the politician's point of view).

    6. I don't expect the politicians to be honest, but I am not a politician. I am just one voter in a country of millions. I see no reason why I should be dishonest.

    7. Pretty moral. I have problems accepting responsibility when I make a mistake, and sometimes I don't stand up for what I believe in when everyone is against me. But I generally try to base my decisions on what is right, not what is most beneficial.

The reason I can accept a politician's dishonesty so easily is because, oftentimes, they are making a decision that is technically morally wrong, but is for the benefit of the entire country.  Sometimes they are required to choose to do one of two immoral things, and they have to base their decision upon what is least wrong. I don't think a lot of people really understand that, which is why they must lie about it. I am relatively insignificant, and my decisions generally only affect me, so I choose to sacrifice for good. But when you're dealing with the unwilling sacrifice of millions of people for the good of someone else, it becomes more complicated.

  10. I don't feel you should lie to win the election I believe that if the other person has good views you should tell the public yes he/she is right here but he/she is not here, and point out some things that you know aren't right for America in this time.

Yes you state opinion as opinion and provide provable facts or else your only showing that your a liar, and someone who should not be voted for.

Now this one is tough because if you strongly believe in what you thought you should say that but there's no reason to attack someone else because its not what you think you should just simply explain your side.

Everyone should respect that our nation was built on more than one persons point of view.

No all of it should count because if you win without it then all you've done is demolish good a whole bunch of good things just to win something you is good. In the end having more con's than pro's.

No honesty and fair play mean you have enough respect for America to show your point and if it doesn't win resoect that thats not what people want at this time.

Sometimes I'm a lot more moral than other it depends on the kind of mood I'm in.

  11. There are a lot of good answers here for this question.  I think it's  good question.  I think I can honestly say that I am a moral American according to your rules.  I still try to keep the beliefs of our founding fathers, and try to uphold the true meaning of freedom.  We as Americans have the right to oppose our leaders and expect them to uphold the wishes of the majority of the people.  We shouldn't be afraid to change things as we see fit and let our leaders know what we want.  I am talking more on a local stage here. For instance, I saw a municipal judge making very bad decisions based on race, and I had the right to vote him out of his position.  Having the power to state my opinion in this arena makes me a very proud American.
