This is our home. If you had ANY appreciation for yours, you wouldn't have to ask why rebuild ours. This is our home, our city and we will not leave until there is nothing left at all. K?

  1. I've never actually heard anyone say that.  Then again I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I love New Orleans.  I drove there once from Miami and only stayed a day and a half, but I love that place.  The atmosphere is incredible.  Plus there's the Canadian connection with the Acadians ( > Cajuns) from Nova Scotia.

Of course it shouldn't be abandoned.  That's like saying San Francisco should be abandoned because there are earthquakes.  Then again, if I was living there, I'd have to be well-prepared for floods.  What can you expect if your city is located below sea level, right at the coast where major hurricanes occur?

  2. YES!!!! Anywhere you live can have disasters. California has earthquakes, midwest has tornadoes and flooding, hawaii has volcanoes, north has blizzards.... I mean if everyone moved because of NATURAL DISASTERS,WE'D ALL BE LIVING NOWHERE!!

  3. Very  few people suggest that and those are the ones that do haven't really educated themselves.  They think "Katrina" and automatically think "hurricane magnet".  Most of us know better : )

  4. Yeah plenty sick, I love NOLA. It has to go on, stay strong!

  5. That sounds VERY STUPID..and CHILDISH!

When the earth becomes un-habitable..and lets say the heat becomes unbearable..ima be like..take me to the moon..anywhere!!!!!

Come on...if New orleans keeps getting attacked by natural disasters..only a fool would stay and keep running for shelter everyime another disaster hits...

  6. no its our home

even a natural guest like gustav couldn't make us change our motherland

  7. I agree with you 100%!

  8. It's so ridiculous!  The city hadn't been damaged since 1965 and it bounced back since then.  Then Katrina.  Maybe a couple other hurricanes came and went but none as bad as those.  Why would we just abandon a city at that rare rate of being damaged?  Especially since we are one of the largest ports in america.   We supply the most seafood, its one of the oldest and most historical cities in the country, its one of the most entertaining cities, tourism is a multi billion dollar business here...supplies a large part of the countries source of fuel and not to mention, people LIVE here.  the food, the music the history.  its a ridiculous thought....I dont get it.  The other day I was watching Glen Beck, which i hate the guy but sometimes I watch it just to annoy myself...anyway someone who lives in NO calls in, I dont remember who it was but she was calling for a reason having nothing to do with NO but just said that people like listening to him on the radio in NO....suddenly Glenn starts talking about how idiotic it is for people to continue living here and why we dont move out......and the poor lady had to start defending NO because Glenn Beck is an ***.  I wonder if that brought down is ratings in NO radio.

  9. Yes. Every city has been put up in defiance of nature - the subways in NYC would flood if they weren't pumped 24 hours a day - most of lower Manhattan is landfill and prone to flooding...but do people say abandon NYC? No.

New Orleans is a great city. Holland is in a similar situation - should the Dutch abandon their city as well?

Every city has it's issues. London is also prone to  flooding and had a similar scare last year. New Orleans will be fine. Let the rebuilding begin (renew)

  10. in my opinion, I think New Orleans is a cesspool.  And yes,  I've lived there.

I hate it.  The United States should make everyone get out of New Orleans and expand Angola Prison to the entire new Orleans parish, Jefferson parish and Kenner.

    That's what I think.

Every Hardened criminal who will never get out of prison should be sent to the bigger newer Angola expanded prison.

That's what i think Of New Orleans.

  11. Actually, I have not heard anyone say that.

    K?

    Regards,

    Dan

  12. alright then. sounds like a plan. i really haven't heard people say it that much but it would make sense.. to go somewhere that you wouldn't have to rebuild your house every one or two years.. but if you don't care then hey all the power to you

  13. yeahh! and i dont live there! lol :D

  14. I also live in New Orleans. I am presently evacuated.

I have to say that I am all over it if the rest of the country wants to abandon us. If New Orleans became an independant city-state, I would be fine with that.

Our port is the largest (in terms of mass tonnage) in the western hemisphere. We control the mouth of the Mississippi River. We have the best food and the only indigenous American musical art form: Jazz. New Orleans was infinitely better off before Americans came in 1803.

Do you remember the float from Krewe D'Etat in 2006? "Buy us back, Chirac."

    I'm all over it.

  15. Your point makes lots of sense. I agree.
