Are a lot of people jealous when they see true friendship?

It seems like I've observed many people (especially women) tend to get jealous when they see two people who seem to be true/lifelong friends. Why is that? (other than insecurity)

ive noticed that and its just cuz theyr having friendship troubles and everything seems so much better with other ppl at a time like this they wish they could have that kind of relationship too be happy if u find a true friend theyr verry rare =[

I have never observed such a thing. I am always very happy for ppl if they have good friends? Why, are you jealous of someone?

I think true friendships are rare and highly valued and just like with anything else we value highly we want it and we are jealous (even if we have one or two, we want even more).

It is an insecurity on their part .... it's also an envy of something they don't have and don't know how to have .... two really good friends are solid - they care about each other, they know they can depend on each other, and they know they'll be there for each other no matter who or what .... and no-one nor the world can come between them.... that's special - that's something that no amount of money or coercing or two-facedness can pull apart..... and they don't have it because they're not true people like the people in the friendship are..... something they don't understand.....I'm lucky because I do have a true friend like that .... they only come along once in a lifetime.....

oh wow, yeah i know what you mean, i have this besfriend that i was Friends with for like, ever and i see people always trying to talk to us and pull my Friend away. i think they are jealous that the cant have such an amazing Friends like mine! :D

yes, continue analizing me as an avarage ordinary person. you did a good job so far. your books are in vain, of no avail. I am not a person from books, you think I am, it is easier on you, just go on, I dont mind. But I dont love you. Dont respect you. Dont want you.

THAT IS TRUE..MANY PEOPLE HATE TO SEE OTHERS HAPPY. I HAVE EXPERIENCE THAT A LOT. WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN....DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THEM GREEN WITH ENVY AND CAUSE THEM TO BUST!

As people get older they lose more and more friends and get more and more lonely. This breads jealousy.

Life long friends are hard to come by and people rarely have them past a certain age (may be 20's). Its part of growing up I guess - you get more opinionated which essentially leads to tensions and ultimately some form of isolation.

People feel jealous because they want that true fairy tale friendship but either don't know how to get it or don't believe it to be true.
