I am a graffiti writer and paint backpacks and other stuff but most of the time I use paint markers and am tired of using them.

  1. Adding textile medium will make the acrylics adhere better to the material. Otherwise the paint may flake off from the excessive bending of the material. It is easy to work with, and as long as you make a preliminary drawing, you shouldn't have trouble with the brushes.

  2. You can use acrylic paint to paint hats and backpacks. The problem is, acrylics have to be applied using a brush/brushes, which are gonna mess your lines up. I know, I write too. Graff with brushes is way different than using markers or aerosol. Maybe you just need to find a nicer set of paint markers? I've never gotten "tired" of using paint pens or good inks to write on fabrics.

Anyway, you can use acrylics if you want, it's all personal preference.

    Stay Gold.

  3. Yes acrylics are your best choice.  Make sure you use a textile medium to mix them for durability and so you can be able to wash them.  I use this medium for shoes even with artist acrylic paints.

  4. Acrylics adhere wonderfully to fabrics and are durable.  I guess one benefit over markers is that you can mix endless colors.  Here is an example of the shoes I painted for my daughter.
