  1. Like any bird, they are only good birds for the right kind of people, that being people who have a lot of time to spend with them and a lot of money for their care and can live with their noise level and provide lots of mental stimulation and a large cage and varied diet.  They will only "behave" if you know how to train them, and even then, there are things they will do no matter what, like chewing things, making a mess with their food, and vocalizing.

  2. Most african greys pick a favorite person and just tolerate other people. There are of course exceptions.  Better family birds would be conures, tiels, macaws and cockatoos.

  3. Birds behaving?  HAHA.  Birds are sneaky creatures, so you'll have to watch them when you let them out.  But African Grey's are very good birds for people...as in loving and talkative.  We have 11 birds at home one Grey, 3 cockatoos, 2 amazons, 1 macaw, 4 conures....all of the larger birds need to be watched closely, but most of the wooden things in our home is bird eaten.  Just make sure you have really thought about this commitment.  Birds and loud and are very demanding.  But if you have thought about it and are really going to get one, you will be very happy :)  Also, someone said they cling to one person, and that is true.  Ours clings to our dad, but the rest of the family CAN play and being loving to it also.
