  1. i would hope they were incredibly skilled

  2. Everyday is a learning experience. To get my A&P(Airframe and Powerplant rating), I had 4 years of mechanics school at 40 hours per week. This part is mandatory to even touch an aircraft with a tool.

I took it a little further by getting a degree in Aeronautical Engineering to try and stay one step ahead of all of the neat gadgets that appear on an almost daily basis in the areas such as "fly by wire",and avionics. I would say overtly skilled.

  3. Oh god - they are so short of skilled Aircraft mechanics and avionics in Australia it's not funny !

See http://www.workingin-australia.com/ and click on Skilled shortages.

  4. You have got to be kidding don't you ?  Imagine flying on a plane that has been serviced by a person you would term semi skilled.

They don't mix mud and hand the bricks to the tradesmen I would say they would be highly skilled trademen.

(Girls don't get upset by my use of the word Tradesmen it's generic).
