Are algae decomposers or producers?

Question

On my test I put producers, but now that I come to think of it, I don't think they are plants. I know I should just look it up in my notes for the answer, but I am so sick of reading over my ecology papers. I stayed up until 2 o'clock last night, studying. Just the thought of me missing that question makes me feel sick. I am so irritated. =/

i THINK decomposers they eat what ever is left over but thats what i THINK. DOnt know exactly.
