  1. A better question would be "Are all prescription drugs safe?", as the country of origin is essentially irrelevant.  The answer is not "No.", but "h**l, no."  Some prescription drugs can kill you.  Some prescription drugs can cause irreversable damage to different systems or organs in your body as well.  Research everything, before you take it.  A very brief short list of drugs that are not and never were "safe":  Actos (Rosiglitazide), Thalidomide, Vioxx, steroids, especially if used long term; Fentermine, some of the statins, any antibiotic, especially if prescribed for a virus (by the same token, antibiotics can also save lives, so know what you're doing and what your doctor is doing FIRST, before you take them.); birth control pills, especially before low dose pills were introduced; almost all chemotherapeutic agents, Retin A, especially in higher concentrations, phenylpropanolamine, or PPA, AZT, when administered to pregnant women,.  There are so many others, I'd be here all night, but you get the idea.

"Does money influence drug studies? ABC News reported that in a survey of independently-run drug studies, drugs were found to be safe and effective about 50% of the time. But when a drug company sponsored their own trial, the positive rating nearly doubled to 90%."

    "Six Airplane Crashes a Day

According to the medical report Death by Medicine, by Drs. Gary Null, Carolyn Dean, Martin Feldman, Debora Rasio and Dorothy Smith, 783,936 people die in the United States every year as a result of conventional medicine mistakes. This is the equivalent of six jumbo jet crashes a day for an entire year.

Another 1995 study stated, "The iatrogenic [doctor-caused] death rate dwarfs the annual automobile accident mortality rate of 45,000 and accounts for more deaths than all other accidents combined." And that study was issued before the Vioxx disaster killed 60,000 people all by itself.

    104,700% Deadlier Than Terrorism

Since 2001, 490,000 people in the United States have died from prescription drugs, while 2,996 people in the United States died from terrorism, all in the 9/11 attacks; prescription drugs are therefore 16,400 percent more dangerous than terrorism. If deaths from over-the-counter drugs are also included, then drug consumption leaps to being 32,000 percent more dangerous than terrorism. And conventional medicine viewed as a whole is 104,700 percent deadlier than terrorism."
