Are all Chiropractors doctors?

I personally know a chiropractor dr. through my best friend and my best freinds cousin. The cousin used to work as a secretary for the Dr. Now, all of the sudden, upon visiting the Office's myspace site, the cousin is now listed as "Chiroprator 'Jess'" Next to her is the dr, listed as "Dr. 'Suzy'" Dont you have to be a DR to practice Chiro. in any shape or form? It seems kind of shady. These two together seem like the type to lie about things, or pull a fast one on people if the oppurtunity arrived. Im def. going to check the state licensing site tomorrow, since it is down today. Let me know if I am wrong.

  1. A Chiropractor must go to school to become a "Dr."  He is not an M.D. and can not perscribe medicine, but is called "Dr."

  2. Relax.   Breathe out.  A chiropractor has a doctor's degree called Doctor of Chiropractic and is entitled to practice.  There are other "doctors" such as doctor of medicine (also properly known as a physician and "Doctor"), a Doctor of Dentistry; a Doctor of Osteopathy (an osteopath) and even a PhD college professor addressed in the college as "Doctor."  What they each can legally do is defined in their license issue by the state in which they are licensed and registered to practice.=

  3. Yes under the law to practice chiropractic and to call yourself a chiropractor you must hold a DC degree.  No one else may.  There have been a few medical doctors over the years calling themselves chiropractors but that is rare.  Currently we are seeing veterinarians calling themselves chiropractors in the treatment of animals.  But both groups are actually breaking the law.

Simply because this person says something on myspace does not mean that is what is going on in the office.  I certainly doubt that any DC is going to risk haveing someone practicing in their office who is not credentiled.  It would just be too big a risk.  Maybe the myspace thing is a joke in a way.

  4. Not a "medical doctor" but yes a "Doctor of chiropractic",  if "Chiropractor Jess" has never gone to a school of chiropractic medicine and gotten a degree than it is complete BS and she better not be manipulating anyone's spine!!!

Heres the requirements they HAVE to forfill to call themselves chiropractors:
