  1. i think so......

  2. No man not at all...

DVD-R has the Normal 4.7 gig and Duel Layer 8.5 gig.

Standard is 120 minutes of Video on a normal 4.7 after that and compression the disk begins to lose quality.

Not all computer burners will handle the Duel layer.. and not all HOME burners they use for television today (most take that DVD-R or DVD-RW formats) don't use the DL formats also. DVD-RW can be re-written on again and again, while the other are permanent.

As far as Quality goes also... NOT THE SAME.

CMC Magnetics Makes MOST of the Blank Dvds today..

Usually buying or leasing names, or producing them for THAT company and slapping the name on the side.

    TDK

    Maxell

    Memorex (complete c**p now)

    Prodisc

    Philips

Pretty Much the "c**p" media of DVD media -r +r what ever..

The better ones are made by SONY (believe it or not) Verbatim, and Tayio Yuden. All three of these I use and Own..

the only other I use is the TDK for like "friends: and the fact you can get 25 for 5.99-6.99 on sale at radio shack make them good enough for other people and uses, my own stuff goes on the best!

  3. nope. they aren't all the same.

there are 5 recordable versions of DVD. DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM. DVD-R and DVD+R can record data once, like CD-R, whereas DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW can be rewritten thousands of times, like CD-RW. DVD-RAM is a removable storage device for computers and video recording.
