  1. filipinos geographically are in asia...and look asian..so their real race is just that...they dont have much spanish admixture in them....they are only hispanic in the sense that some of their culture is derivative from spain..other then that they arent hispanic....they dont consider themselves such anyways...

  2. I don't know Steven, I thought there were indigenous Philipino groups too (as well as Chinese, Spanish and other imigrant groups).

  3. No way Filipinos are spanish , just a tiny tiny minority of them are , the great majority is a mix of negritos , pacific islanders and chinese , all mixed together during the centuries.

How u can tell?just look at them.

  4. the main mix for filipinos is islander mixed with spanish blood. I'm filipino and I have more of an asian look since my great grandmother was chinese. but i have cousins who are very pale with medium to light brown hair and hazel eyes.

  5. not all spaniards are white was they were invaded by and dominated by the moors (semites)

  6. The Philippines was a Spanish colony for a long time, so it would be hard to imagine that there isn't a certain percentage of Spanish DNA circulating in the genepool of Filipino people, even to this day...

  7. Yes there are SOME, I say SOME that have chinese blood due to chinese transplants invading the filipino businesses.  There are also some that have spanish in them.  Steve M is just a HATER, we have islander in us, cause we live on ISLANDS.  7,107 islands to be exact!  We share the same language, tribal arts,  and tribal activities, tattoos as the other Pacific Islanders.

  8. Filipinos are Southeast Asians. Only a small portion of Filipinos have Spanish ancestry, despite the names. And no, not one Filipino has 'Islander' in them. I do not know why so many people are saying this.

To wombat stew: That's what I'm saying, most Filipinos are from those indigenous groups, and yes there are Filipinos with Chinese or Spanish(European) blood, but they are the minority. A lot of people think Filipinos are mixed, because when they think of an Asian person they think Chinese, and since Filipinos are darker, they just assume they are mixed with something else, but thats really what non-mixed Filipinos look like.

To SBD1: I'm not a hater, I'm just stating facts. I'd like to see where you get your info from. According to your logic, since Japanese people live on an island they're "Pacific Islanders" too? Sorry it doesn't make sense.

To SBD1: Why are you getting angry? I am half Filipino. I have been to the Philippines and no one considers themselves Pacific Islander. Go up to a Samoan and tell him you're Pacific Islander, he would laugh at you. I'm not denying that Filipinos had cultural similarities with 'Pacific Islanders', but you're acting as if they were the same genetically, which they are very different. Besides Filipino culture now is so mixed that your argument doesn't even matter anymore. Fact is, Filipinos migrated from Asia to the Philippine Islands, which would make them Asian. The Philippines is apart of ASEAN (Association of Southeast ASIAN Nations), and they participate in the Asian games. It seems most of the world doesn't think they're 'Pacific Islander'.

SBD1: You're repeating yourself now? This is exactly what you said in your other answer. I guess that's what happens when you don't have any facts to back up your claims. I've listed facts and you choose to ignore them. Have fun living a lie.

SBD1: Yes you are getting mad, I'm not the one throwing insults around. I don't care if your Samoan friends agree with you, fact is, most of the world considers Filipinos Asian or Southeast Asian, because they migrated from Asia and are IN Southeast Asia. And no Filipinos don't call themselves Asian because they want to be like the Chinese or whatever c**p you were trying to get across. They consider themselves Asian because they are. If you actually went to the Philippines you would understand. I'm not surprised you're from California, it seems a lot of Filipinos there have a problem with being called Asian. It's kind of sad because they're giving into the stupid stereotype that the only Asians are East Asians. Asian isn't a racial or ethnic term, there are many different kinds of people from Asia. What does it matter what my other half is? That has nothing to do with this. I don't know about Russians since Russia is in Europe and Asia but Kazahkstan is in Asia so yes they are considered Asians. People from India are called Asians too because they're IN Asia, again Asian isn't a racial or ethnic term. I'm not denying that Filipinos had cultural similarities with 'Pacific Islanders', but you can't deny that Filipinos migrated from Asia and are in Southeast Asia, making them Asians. I'm glad you don't call yourself 'Pacific Islander', but the fact that the Philippines is an island doesn't make them 'Fil-Islander'. I guess we should start calling people from Indonesia 'Indo-Islanders' or people from Japan 'Japanese-Islanders' too since they live on islands right? The term 'Fil-Islander' doesn't exist for a reason. You also seem to forget that Malay-Polynesians and Austronesians migrated from mainland Asia. You're right I can't force any Filipino to call themselves Asian when they really are. The only thing I can do is show them facts and hope they change their mind.

SBD1: The only reason they accept you is because you don't call yourself a 'Pacific Islander', which I already gave you credit for. I've seen some of your other answers and they come off as ignorant and racist. I don't know what your deal is with East Asians, but I think that's why you don't want to be called Asian, because people will think you're half Chinese or something. You really need some growing up to do.
