less strenuous athletes that engage in such sports as table tennis?

Also, what happens if an athlete gets a really bad cold or has another ailment? Is he/she forbidden from taking any medication at all? or can the athlete take at least one medication with the blessings of those in charge of the Olympics?

  1. Doping tests are administered right before and after each event. All sports. There are drugs that are allowed, there are those which are banned. Officials are looking mostly for traces of performance enhancing drugs, those anabolic steroids which tend to help build muscles and give an athlete undue advantage over others. These tests seem to really work. Many high profile athletes in the past have been caught. The thing now is, there are athletes who will always try to beat the system, so no one will ever really know.

  2. You would never believe what drugs are listed, and it takes hours to read the list. All athletes must abide with the list, and I mean all. Edit..... I don't understand the thumbs down, having had to read the drug list several times because I was on a national team at one time competing in international competitions.

  3. The table tennis players are probably high on caffeine to help them concentrate.

There are very strict drug testing procedures taking place throughout these entire Olympic Games, that detect every single drug in the body. It is then the job of the officials to determine which drugs are illegal (steroids) or legal (caffeine, cold medication).
