  1. No, the outfield fences differ. It's not usual that a ground rule double occurs anyway. The Fenway Park outfield wall is 40 feet high and Dolphins Stadium is 34 feet but most fences are 10 feet and many are 8 feet. The only fence that is probably the shortest is Fenway Parks right field wall, less than 8 feet.

  2. It's not unfair, because the home team and the opposing team both have the same chance of hitting a home run in a given park, regardless of how high the fences are.

Is playing in Dodgers Stadium, a notorious pitcher's park, an advantage or a disadvantage for the Dodgers?  Yes, the park decreases the opposing team's offense, but guess what- it also decreases the dodger's offense.

And it's never a double play if the ball hits the ground and then goes over the back wall.  That's called a ground rule double.

  3. No, they vary in size depending on the ballpark. Just look at Fenway, is left there is the monster and in right there's a wall that's only a few feet off the ground. No matter how big the fence is, if it hits the ground and goes over it's a ground rule double.

  4. No the size of the walls vary. like in Jacobs Field where the Indians play there left center field is huge and Fenway has the Green Monster. If the ball hits in fair play and bounces into the stand then the player gets a ground rule double which is the same as a regular double and each runner on base gets to advance two bases.

  5. nope

  6. this is part of what makes baseball great, the conditions change from ballpark to ballpark, you need to know how to change your style of play from place to place.

yes, its a ground rule double if the ball bounces over the fence in any venue.
