Are all cue balls the same size/weight? I borrowed a set of balls for a photo shoot, and accidentally stripped the finish off the cue ball trying to clean it. I need to replace it without anyone noticing! Where do you recommend I look to buy a replacement? I seem to only be finding full sets.

  1. Take it to a local billards shop.

  2. Different companies mark their cue balls differently.  Some may be blank, others have a blue dot or blue circle, some have a red dot or red circle.  If it was a set that's played on a coin op table, the cue ball may be magnetic and/or heavier than usual.  There's a selection at the link below, but a billiards store could probably hook you up with something similar to what you want to replace.

  3. Billiard balls don't actually have a  permanent finish, per se.  Often they come highly polished straight out of the box.  Over time, they will become dull and smudged with routine use.  You can just purchase some billiard ball polish at a local billiards supply store and you can make it like new.  The set on my table is over 2 years old and they look brand new when they've been polished.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee

  4. Take it to a local billards shop is your best bet
