Question:

Are all cruises full of drunk kids?

I've seen COUNTLESS videos of teens going wild and out of control at late hours getting drunk and rambling through the halls! I'm a teen too, but I don't want to spend my time on vacation seeing and hearing these animals while I'm trying to have a good time. Can someone who has been on a cruise ship tell me if the general setting is people getting wasted?

I'm going on a Royal Caribbean by the way.

Also can someone please tell me about the teen disco/club that they have on-board? (Music they play, are the sodas free, are the kids s****.)

Thanks SO MUCH! =]

  1. how would kids get alcohol on a cruise?     I have been a few cruises and have never seen a "bunch of drunk kids"

  2. I have been on 3 cruises so far and have never seen any drunk teens.  I have seen teens on occasion hanging out in groups at night and making some noise, but there is security staff that is particularly for youth and they put a stop to that as much as possible.  Just like in school, there are nice, normal, fun teens on board, just as there are some ridiculous partiers.  About the soda, you can buy a soda card where you pay one price at the beginning of the cruise and then you can get unlimited pop throughout the cruise.

  3. I'm sure you'll have no problem. Royal Caribbean are strict on the drinking age (as it is american that is 21) so there shouldnt be any drunken teens. When I went with Royal Caribbean last year, I didnt experience anything like this at all, it was one of my best holidays ever!

There is a teen disco almost every night I think, with a range of ages from like 12/13 to 18. Loads of people turned up, and I made some great friends. There is also normally an internet cafe in the teen bit, so if you just want a bit of peace and quiet you can go in there, or one of the many other places.

    Hope you have fun!

  4. oooohh NO! You won't find that on RC especially about the kids! I have been on 3 RC cruises and never once seen a drunk person let alone a kid! RC is really good at that and they won't give alcohol to minors. It is punched on their cards and they won't serve them. The only way they could get it was if parents bought it for them! No the pops aren't free but you can by a coke card which is unlimated sodas for some price but i'm not sure. It really is a good deal though. Not sure about the teen disco thing. The ship we were on last didn't have it and before that we were too young we went in the awesome adventure ocean!!!! As for the kids you'll get  a different group every week but i've made a lot of friends that I still have. As long as your friendly and stuff you'll make friends! Have fun!!

  5. im a teen too. No, royal caribean is strict with drinking policys, on ur key crds, there are special codes to prevent that. they lso limit on what the adults drink.

The teens club, optix or fuel depending on the ship is fun. They play all types of music. Also, if you buy the soda pass soda is free but otherwise u have to pay. some kids are s****., but its like being at shool, there ae all types of kids.

  6. We've been on 9 cruises.  The only one with drunk minors was RCI, but it was a small group.  College kids were giving it to them, and we were in the cabin next to the college guys (did report them).  It was miserable being next to that group.

We were on Carnival over Spring Break, and they were very tight checking ID's.  The only drunks I saw were at least double the legal drinking age, and the ship was not infected with them.

We've sailed RCI, Carnival, NCL, Princess, and HAL and have sailed during summer vacation, Thanksgiving, and Spring Break.

You should go to cruisecritic.com to get more info about you ship.  Also cruiseclues.com has good info and pics.  The mix of pax changes, but do you really think families would be such a huge part of the cruising demographic if it were nothing but a drunken, teen, free-for-all?  It's the same as in school.  Some behave, some don't, so hang with the good crowd who has your same standards.

My family does not drink at all, so if it were a bunch of drunks, we wouldn't be planning our 10th cruise.  The overall atmosphere has nothing to do with people being drunk.  Some folks drink, but they aren't falling down and being ridiculous.  The overall atmosphere is sobriety - with plenty of sun and fun!

  7. Well firs of all most cl have strict rules for drinking ages and that is 21 on royal carebian. So I wouldnt worry a bit and remember that things arent always what they seams to be. Kids are kids and theyre could be noise but hopefully not drunk. If you see kids that are drunk or are served alcoholical drinks then report it to the purser. The same goes if youre dont happy with some ones behaviour. But remember that people will be drunk and sometimes wery drunk (adult that is) but since you have to pay much for your vacation the worst drinkers is ruled out and ships personal should react if some one is to drunk.

As for teens clubs I dont know. Go there with an open mind and find out. Most likely you will have the time of your life. Johan.

  8. It depends on the cruise line.  Carnival is ALWAYS infected with drunk college kids from what I was told.

  9. Alot depends on where you are going & what time of year. Some people enjoy drinking alot & making noise while others prefer to enjoy the cruise & their time off. Music is the same as you hear on the radio. Sodas are not free. You may want to buy a soda package.
