Are all dimensions for a 50 gallon aquarium the same?

I need a tank for a blue tongued skink and i was wondering if i could get a tank that was wider and a little shorter.

  1. I've never really seen a 50 gallon, but there are probably size variations if you search. Try pawn shops and exotic reptile stores and even if an exotic pet store doesn't have what you're looking for ask the clerk if they know anywhere you can find one.

    It might take some work, but I think you can get a good tank out of it.


  2. yes, there are differences. standard 50 gallons are narrower and taller, be sure to ask for a breeder size, which is typically longer and wider, or just ask for a standard 75 gallon, which is 48x18x20 length by depth by height.  (in my mind the minimum for mid size diurnal lizards). when in doubt, a tape measure isn't too heavy to take along.  

  3. well more common there are 55 gallon tanks and they make 55 long tanks so loook that up for the dimensions
