Question:

Are all experiences of expats living and working in Switzerland bad?

I got offered a great job in Zurich, Switzerland but am worried about taking it on as I've heard Swiss people are unfriendly and it's hard to make friends there. If I take the job I would be there for 2 or so years. Also, by boyfriend will not be able to come with me long term as we're both Australian and he can't get a visa for a long term stay in Switzerland unless a workplace sponsors him. I'm just scared about the big move to Zurich and worried I'll end up sad and lonely. Does anyone have any good experiences about moving to Zurich/Switzerland and working there long term? PS. I’m also dark skinned and I heard Swiss people are more racist than Australians.

  1. No, they're no different there than anywhere else.  In fact the head of UNICEF, which is headquartered there, Margaret Chan...she's Chinese.

Switzerland is very multicultural and diverse.  Perhaps you could get the company to hire your boyfriend as your "personal bodyguard".   You'd be surprised, they may have a job for him since you would be referring him.  If you have skills or knowledge they want they'll do anything to keep you.  The Swiss are very accommodating.  They may even find a job for him with a different company.

    He he he....start scheming.......
