I have several resumes online at different sites. I tend to get 2 or 4 emails about someone viewing my resume and that I qualify for the postion. But I turn them done because they are commission based . WIll I make any money working this type of job? Or will I make money through saling insurance? Please respond.

  1. Zarnev, you are killing me, LOL.

The trick is they take someone who is qualified because they are breathing and they feed them such a line of BS that the recruit actually thinks they are something special, now that takes skill.

If you are interested sales try car sales first, the prospects come to you it is much easier.

  2. Yes, any sales related insurance position is USUALLY commission based because that's how the Agency gets paid by the Company.  Some Agency's pay commission plus a salary and others pay a straight salary...it all depends.  If you're posting online resume's your chances of finding a salary position could be small because it's usually the small agency that will offer a straight salary and they aren't usually looking at resume's online.

I've been selling insurance and working in the industry for the past 10 years and love it.  You get out what you put in.

  3. depends on what you want to do - there may be administrative positions in insurance agencies, but open positions will be few and far between compared to agent jobs and most,if not all of them will be commission based, so you can expect to be poor for awhile - some may offer a low salary to start, which convert over to a 100% commission pay over time - if you don;t like cold calling and people saying no to you, then sales isn't for you

  4. Unfortunately, the only qualification for many of the companies that respond to on-line resumes are that you are currently breathing.

Almost all insurance sales are commission based, although some companies may give a small salary or advance to people just starting out.

95% of all agents fail in the first year, and half of rest fail in the second year. Can you make money? Yes. Will you make money? Possibly, but no one here will know.
