  1. Mushrooms can be hard to tell if you not know. My mom have a book help identify what edible and what not. If, you not sure, it best to leave them alone. They not have enough nutritional value to risk being sick or dead.

  2. Mostly wild mushrooms are poisonous

  3. Porbably not. Some might just make you sick and some might be OK to eat...you need to get a regional illustrated book and look at every single identify clue they mention to determine what kind you have.

There are many, many kinds of mushrooms. You could go to a meeting of a local horticulture group and take a mushroom from your yard and ask the members if anyone there can identify it. I used to do that with weeds, and wildflowers.

Hort society members are friendly people. Meetings are usually free. Call your library and ask if they know if your community has a local Horticulture Society. Good luck.

  4. The subject matter is mycology, fungi and mushrooms.

Not many are poisonous, but most don't taste worth a darn.  Get a book from the library and learn how to identify the good ones.  The ones you buy in the store are probably the meadow mushroom, and the difference between store bought and wild is incredible.

Be aware that if you are treating your lawn, those chemicals are in the ground and will be absorbed by the mushrooms.
