Are all of the main sites in Rome within walking distance?

Question

I am lucky enough to be visiting Rome this week for a 5 day break.. I was wondering if all of the main sites i.e. Vatican, Colloseum, Pantheon etc within easy reach of one another?

Our accomodation is apparently a 10 min walk from the Colloseum. Is it easy to get around?

Walking and trams get you around most of the good ones.

i'm from rome!!so i can say that your accomodation is perfect 'cause it's near the colosseum and you can take the metro and you'll be in the centre of the city!!!so good luck and enjoy yourself because rome is beautiful!!!

Rome is surprisingly small and most sites are easily reached by foot. I remember the Colosseum and the Vatican to be a bit further from the centre but they can easily be reached by metro. The metro can get VERY crowded though, not exactly my cup of tea, I'd rather walk 30 minutes. Have fun, Rome is a fantastic city!

Yes, most of them, but it`s also nice to take a bus or tram. Also by walking and taking your time you will discover many many not tourists litle place that you may remember for long time and are maybe nicer. Also enjoy the very friendly people, they really love and enjoy life and food and love.

Pretty much everything is in walking distance. I'd recommend taking the open top tour bus around the city first. You get a day pass and can hop on and off at different points of interest. It gives you a good insight into where everything is and how to get there on foot, for later on. We were there for a weekend (so not much time) and couldn't find the Sistine Chapel. We did everything on foot, till the last day, then took a tour bus, from that found we were only a 5 minute walk away from it the previous day - but didn't have time to go and

see it - must go back!

Yep. Been there, LOVED IT!

Loads of good ones are around the collossium(all very close), however there are hundreds of historically significent landmarks in Rome, so, I would suggest taking the trams.

Make sure you take a good pair of walking shoes! Can use the underground but only during the day & it is cheap, buses are also good.

I've usually walk when I go to Rome. From point to point, the distances aren't too far. Some of the people that have gone along have found the total walking a little challenging, but it really isn't much of a problem. In addition to walking, there are hop-on hop-of sightseeing buses and the metro that you can use to get around. You can get a Roma Pass http://www.romapass.it/english/index.htm... which will include  3 days of public transportation on the buses, metro, and some trains as well as discounts on entrance fees. You can also just get transportation passes.
