Here's the thing, there are two Illuminati groups (like on a chess board, if you will). One is corporate, power hungry, self absorbed, and manipulative in a way that keeps everyone who is...not in the know, their slaves or lackeys. The other is enlightened, philosophical, spiritually advanced, but not necessarily concerned about you or me as they are more concerned with "the big picture". It  does seem, however, that the non-corporate Illuminati (the true Illuminati) were (and are) concerned about the direction in which this world is heading. Examples of the true Illuminati are Galileo, Da Vinci, Nostradamus, Copernicus, Plato, Pythagoras, Tesla, Bacon, Newton, Aristotle, Jesus Christ, Gautama Buddha, and so forth. So to answer the question; no, they are not all evil people. The last time I checked, Michael Moore is still alive, so you are probably not in any imminent danger.

Many YA fans are dim bulbs who couldn't light a decent refrigerator.Besides, it takes a lot of energy to do evil the way it should be done. They probably don't have the time.
