  1. Just by reading the all the answers given here, it's obvious that you have to stipulate what " you" mean by equal.

  2. Some people are more equal than others.

  3. yes. people are created equal. but cultures are not i am afraid!

  4. NO, If people were all created equal then Stevie Wonder shouldnt have been born blind, there wouldnt be no rich and no poor, no smart and no dumb, no fine and no ugly. We would have been living in equilibrium.

  5. Yes and No. It depends on the context that one is speaking in, the religion or even the location that the person lives. Morally and ethically speaking, yes we are all equal. We all have (or should have) the same rights and opportunities. On the other side, in other ways we are definitely not created equally. Lets be realistic, if i were born missing an arm, would I definitely would not have been created equal, in a physical sense. There is no way around that. Also we must consider something else. If everyone agrees that there are no two individuals exactly alike in the world, can we thus be created equal? This is where religion can come in to play. A higher being (God) may see his people as all equal. And lastly, in many countries people are definitely not created equal in the eyes of society. There are still nations that see women as lower life forms. So they do not believe that people are created equal what so ever. This question is not easily answered. I would say that in the end it boils down to the perception of the individual.

  6. What we become depends on "nature and nurture", i.e. our genetics and our upbringing. There are roughly four situations:

bad genetics & bad upbringing -> prisoner type

bad genetics & good upbringing -> workaday type

good genetics & bad upbringing -> lawyer/scamster type

good genetics & good upbringing -> ideal citizen

  7. Sure.

We are all the same size, weight, age, intelligence, opinions, dispositions, origins

  8. In My eyes.

  9. that is quite a philosophical question.  When looking at the modern world with so many poor people and so few in power who are corrupt it is hard to believe that, such as in Sudan now, and in Rwanda in 1994, plus countless other disparities in society around the world.  Some of the most respected philosophers, such as Hobbes, maintain that in the state of nature all men are created equal.  Some are born with bigger muscles while others are born with more smarts and that they all equal out in the end.  Jesus obviously believed that all men were created equal, which is why he said you who is without sin cast the first stone.  When it comes down to it, I have come to the conclusion that this question is not something that other people can answer for you but decision that you must come to one your own.

  10. No. And that is the tragedy of creation. Sometimes God is so cruel to create physically or mentally handicapped children.

  11. Yes, but, as the saying goes, some are more equal than others!

  12. Yes.

I believe that in essentials, everyone starts equal.

  13. You should get a prise for the stupidest question this century are you in a vacuum or what i hope you dont mean physically in future be more explicate

  14. Not at all.  Some people are more smarter, taller, fatter, shorter, skinnier, athletic, palsied, vision impaired, boring, friendly, dumb, etc.

  15. Yes we are all the same in the eyes of God

  16. People are not equal and that is never to be the goal, if we were all equal then industry and the world would stagnate. Equality of opportunity is a worthy goal but those who excel should always be allowed to lead. For an example of the effects of equalizing a society read the short story "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut (http://instruct.westvalley.edu/lafave/hb...

Distinctions in society will always exist under every just government. Equality of talents, of education, or of wealth can not be produced by human institutions. --Andrew Jackson

  17. Of course not. Some have disabilities, Some are athletic. there is a wide range of IQ's. The phrase we are equal refers to equal protection under the law.

  18. depends on how you mean everyone is born human and no one human life if more important than any other in the big picture unless you are involved in their life, but people are better at certain things than others, no one is great at everything.

  19. Absolutely not! That old saying is so absurd. It has always make me want to puke. It follows a standard bell curve using whatever criteria you want to measure from brains to brawn.

  20. no, never have been and never will be. you are labelled by where you are born and how wealthy your parents are. a young child born into a poor family in a country where people are starving is not an equal to someone who is born into a wealthy family in a wealthy country.

  21. no i believe not. our parents genes have a massive part in our creation and therefore our morols, conscience, etc. I am proof of this. i was the eldest of four girls in my family. All through my childhood i felt like i was  very different to them. I had better morals, they didnt even have a conscience and i never clicked with them like they clicked with each other. and i never wanted too. Where i loved school and loved to learn, the three of them hated it and would often abscond. I had utmost respect for my mother - they stole from her, lied to her and continuously disobeyed her. I often wondered why i was so different from them. Then i found out that i actually had a different father from them. That explained everything to me. My real father waa a proffesional wheras my sisters father was an uneducated bully who never worked, didnt have any respect for the law etc. so no we are not all created equally.

  22. Everyone should have equal rights; that does not mean that they have equal abilities.

  23. No. A snail is a better athlete than I. I have encountered many people smarter than I. I can't sing or dance, and I know I do some things better than others.

  24. People are not created. All people are obviously not equal.

All people should be given an equal opportunity for health, education, advancement, happiness, income, safety and anything people value.

    Jim D

  25. I Suppose So.

    But Not Genetically

  26. Equal in what way?  Do you mean they should be afforded the same rights and privileges as everybody else?  In that case , yes

  27. DONT BE ABSURD

  28. Yes, I believe they are.

  29. There are those that really want equality, then there are those that do not want others to have it, then there are those that want it but to avoid the c**p that everyone else must go through to get it they throw in their race and gender.

  30. Not really. Some guys are taller and have the option of being basketball players, and some guys are shorter and have the option of being horse jockeys. Some people are born with bigger hearts and other with smaller ones. So, on a genetic level, I would say nope.

But that doesn't mean everyone shouldn't be given an equal opportunity.
