  1. everyone in the military is trained as infantry first! Everyone in the military, from the marines to the desk jobs knows how to use a gun if need be.

  2. Army - Soldiers

    Marines - Marines

    Navy - Sailors

    Air Force - Airmen

    Coast Guard - Coasties

  3. You're correct, Army and National Guard are Soldiers, Marines are Marines, Navy are Sailors, and Air Force are Airmen.  By definition, however, the generic term "soldier" can be applied to all branches.

  4. How about those of us in the FIFTH branch that take umbrage at being skipped totally?

Coast Guard --> Coast Guardsman, Coasties, Sailors and now Guardians.

  5. If you call a U.S. Marine General "Marine" he will have no problem with it. If you call a U.S. Navy Admiral "Sailor" he might get his panties in a bunch.

Soldiers are U.S. Army; Airmen are U.S Air Force.

Working with foreign navies as I do, a lot of them refer to their sailors as 'soldiers.'

  6. It is as you said.  The Army has soldiers, the Marines have marines, the Air Force has airmen, and the Navy has sailors.  However, many people often refer to all military personnel generically as troops and soldiers.  This is technically incorrect, but you just need to read the context of how they use the term to see what they are trying to refer to.

  7. Army are Soliders

    Marines are MARINES

    Air Force are Airmen

    Navy are sailors

    Coast Guard are Coasties

  8. Aye dear lady what a question!  There are probably a good many service members in three of the four services that would take umbrage at being called Soldiers.  Marines are Marines/jarheads/ocean going bellhops/etc.  Sailors are Sailors/anchor clankers/etc, airmen are Airmen/women/wing wipers/etc.  Members of the US Army...well we tend to answer to whatever you wish to call us.  We are however partial to SOLDIER/Grunt/Treadhead/CDAT/Trooper/and let us not forget GI.  We all wear different uniforms and we have different views on things but we all have one thing in common, We raise our hands and swear the same oath to the Constitution and not any particular individual.  I hope this helps you.  Good luck to you.

  9. Army= Soldiers

    Marine Corps= Marines

    Air Force= Airmen

    Coast Guard= Sailors.

  10. Soldiers are Army, Marines are Marines, Navy are called Sailors, Air Force is called....uh.......called.................. you get it

  11. No, it depends on which branch of the military he/she belongs to.  Army men are soldiers.
