  1. No Not all road bike tires are the same size. It depends on the wheel size first. then you can work with the width a little. if you have a 27" wheel then you really don't have much of a choice if you have a 700c wheel then you have a little play with the width. you can go with anywhere from a 23 to a 28 width. it depends on what you are going to use the bike for. Remember the wider the tire the more friction there is and the more energy you have  to use to keep the bike in motion. you also have to think about the terrain you are going to be riding. Is is totally smooth or is it going to have some gravel. Speak with your local bike store and they will be able to show you what they have in stock and guide you to the correct tire for your needs.

  2. no they have 700c and 650c. But then there is the width of the tire.

  3. There can be a lot of confusion about tire sizes, especially when a 26x1.75 tire is not interchangeable with a 26x 1 3/4 tire.

Whenever you want the straight story about bicycles, the first place to go is the late, great Sheldon Brown's web site. Take a look at http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html There's more information about tire sizing than any other place I've seen on the web.

  4. No they are not because some road bike tires have different tread patterns and have different traction types on different surfaces.

  5. No. Most have the same circumference but they vary in width. A common size is 700x23. Slightly wider is 700X25

  6. No, but a smaller size of wheel is available for the young ones (mainly under 9)

  7. No there are many diffent sizes. Read the size on the back tire, it's labled on the side. Then look for a tire to match the rear one in that size.
