  1. lol. i'll give u the short version of what everyone else is saying. yea lots of russian girls have blonde hair, but there are dark hair girls, just as well.

  2. Many are brown-haired, almost none are black-haired, unless by Russian you're referring to citizenship and not ethnicity. Unfortunately, some of the blondes are actually fake, which can often be easily deduced by a simple analysis of facial features. Some Russians, especially those who are members of particular sub-cultures, might dye their hair black. Julia Volkova, in whom you are particularly interested, does have dyed black hair - her original hair colour is brown.

In addition to that, there is some regional variation involved. The most major division is between Russians from the northern part of their historical habitat and the central/southern part. Northern Russians share some genetic similarities with the local Finnic populations, while the genetic composition of other ethnic Russians is largely identical to that of the Poles. The former are more likely to have light hair, albeit the admixture is more evident in facial features than pigmentation.

On the overall, it would be safe to say that roughly one third of ethnic Russians are blonde in the traditional sense of the word. To deduce the frequency of brown hair and overall pigmentation, we might want to take a look at the eye colours: approximately 50% have blue or grey eyes, and 70% have non-brown, non-black eyes. I would guess that all of them are either blonde, red or brown-haired. In addition to that, blondes with brown eyes do exist.

  3. Of course there are dark haired Russian women.

  4. Russia does not have only Slavic ethnicity represented, there is plenty of "mixes" because Russians or ethnic slavs have been mixing with others for centuries! You will find a whole spectrum of eye colors, hair colors and even skin color variations among the Russian-speaking population.

I am Russian and have very dark-brown eyes and dark-brown hair. My older brothes (same set of parents) are have ach-blond hair and grey eyes. Members of my extended family, both Russia-Jewish and Ukrainian/Bulgarian sides, all look different and there is really no one common trait among us.
